Veeam Recovery
When a Veeam restore fails, the data in the repository is often still recoverable. AS works directly with backup files and chains rather than relying on the console.
When you need this
- Restore fails with a corrupted backup file error
- Incremental chain broken by a missing or damaged VIB
- Repository storage failed or was encrypted by ransomware
- Veeam configuration database lost after server rebuild
- Backup files present but not recognised by the console
What we do
Backup file analysis
VBK, VIB and VBM files are analysed directly to locate recoverable virtual disks and files.
Chain reconstruction
Damaged or partial chains are reassembled to the most complete consistent point.
Repository recovery
Failed repository storage is imaged and recovered like any other storage before backup analysis.
Import and validation
Recovered backups are re-imported or extracted, and restores validated.
How it works
- Step 1
Assess
Understand the environment, the risks that matter and what a disruption would actually cost.
- Step 2
Protect
Put the right backups, isolation and safeguards in place — and verify they work.
- Step 3
Recover
When something fails, recover data from the safest, most complete sources first.
- Step 4
Restore
Bring services back in business-priority order on clean, trusted infrastructure.
- Step 5
Validate
Confirm data integrity, application function and that the cause has been dealt with.
- Step 6
Improve
Close the gaps the incident exposed and update the plan.
What affects the outcome
Outcomes are never guaranteed. Every case is assessed on its own condition, and we tell you what is realistic before you commit.
- Whether backups exist, are complete and were verified before the incident
- How isolated backups and snapshots were from the systems that failed
- Documentation of the environment: dependencies, credentials, configurations
- Time since the incident and what has been changed since
- Availability of clean infrastructure to restore onto
Frequently asked questions
Can you recover a Veeam backup without the Veeam server?
In many cases, yes. Backup files can be analysed and data extracted independently, or re-imported into a fresh installation.
Our repository was hit by ransomware. Are the backups gone?
Not necessarily. Partially encrypted repositories frequently contain recoverable backup content. Assessment determines what survived.
