How we work
Every recovery follows the same disciplined path — from an honest first assessment to a stronger environment afterwards. Here is exactly what that looks like.
When data is lost, the worst thing a provider can do is rush in and make it worse. AS works to a structured, repeatable process built over years of enterprise recovery — ransomware, database corruption, failed arrays and virtual-machine failures. The aim is not simply to get data back, but to do it safely, verify it, and leave you better protected than before. The engineer who assesses your case is the one who does the recovery, so nothing is lost in a handoff.
The six stages of a recovery
- 1
Assess
Before any chargeable work begins, we establish what happened: which systems and data are affected, how urgent recovery is, and what source material exists — backups, replicas, exports or the original media. You get an honest view of what is realistically recoverable, with the options and next steps, so you can decide with the facts in front of you. If recovery isn't feasible, we say so plainly.
- 2
Protect
We secure what remains before touching it. Original media and affected systems are protected from further change, and for a ransomware incident, evidence and logs are preserved. Recovery runs from secure images and copies — never the originals — so a recovery attempt can never make the situation worse.
- 3
Recover
The core work. Where files can be read, we recover at the file level; where they cannot — ransomware-damaged databases, corrupted pages, broken arrays — we work at the database and backend-structure level: database pages, headers, allocation structures, indexes, metadata and corrupted objects across SQL Server, SAP and Oracle, VMware and Veeam. Each approach is built from the actual condition of the underlying data.
- 4
Restore
Recovered data is brought back into a usable state — databases returned to a consistent, working form and systems back online — so the business can operate again, not just hold a folder of files.
- 5
Validate
We verify integrity and completeness: that the data opens, is consistent, and is what was expected. A recovery isn't finished until it's confirmed sound.
- 6
Improve
Once the immediate crisis is over, we help close the gaps that caused it — backup coverage, monitoring and the plan for next time — so the same failure doesn't recur.
What we hold to, on every case
- Assessment before commitment — you know what's realistic before you spend.
- Originals are never worked on — recovery runs from secure images and copies.
- Confidential, documented handling of your data throughout.
- Business-focused priorities — what needs to be back first comes first.
- No guaranteed-recovery claims — no honest provider can make them.
- Sensitive data moves over a secure channel we agree after first contact, never through the website.
- We work alongside your internal IT team or MSP, not around them.
