AS RAID Recovery — RAID Recovery Software
Rebuild RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10 and NAS arrays from their member disks or images — automatically — and recover the files on them.
Overview
When a RAID controller or NAS fails, or the configuration is lost, AS RAID Recovery rebuilds the array virtually from its member disks or their images and recovers the partitions and files on it. Connect the disks in any order: the program reads the array's own metadata (Linux md, used by Synology, QNAP and most NAS boxes) when it is there, and otherwise works out the RAID level, stripe size, parity rotation and disk order from the file system itself. Every result is labelled Verified or Best guess, and you can always enter or correct the layout by hand. RAID 5 is rebuilt even with one disk missing, using the parity. Nothing is ever written to the member disks. A member that has failed at the firmware or hardware level must be repaired or imaged first — that is lab work our RAID recovery service does, not something software can do.
Physically failed media and complex incidents need a service engagement.
RAID data recovery servicesFeatures
- RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 6, RAID 10 and JBOD (spanned)
- Automatic detection of RAID level, stripe size, parity rotation (left/right, symmetric/asymmetric) and disk order
- NAS and Linux software RAID (Synology, QNAP, mdadm): layout read directly from the array metadata
- RAID 5 with one member missing: the missing data is rebuilt from parity on the fly
- Disks connected in any order; manual layout entry and correction at any time
- Recover files from the rebuilt array: NTFS, FAT32 and exFAT, deleted files, formatted volumes, lost partitions and a deep scan by file content
- Save the rebuilt array as one disk image
- Read-only on every member disk; works from physical disks or images (raw, split, VHD, VHDX, VMDK)
Supported environments
- Windows 10 / 11, Windows Server
- Arrays from hardware RAID controllers, NAS boxes (Synology, QNAP and other Linux-based NAS) and Linux software RAID
System requirements
- 64-bit Windows
- Enough ports (or images) to present all member disks at once
- Destination storage for recovered data
- Every member disk (or its image) must itself be readable — a disk with a firmware or PCB fault needs that repaired first
- Automatic detection without NAS metadata uses the NTFS file table; for other file systems enter the layout manually

The free edition has no time limit: it detects and rebuilds the array, runs every scan and previews every file. Saving recovered files and the array image requires a licence. Activate it in the program with the licence key from your order.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to know the RAID settings?
No. Connect the member disks in any order and click Auto-detect. The program finds the RAID level, stripe size, parity rotation and disk order and shows whether the result is verified. If you know the settings, you can enter them yourself.
Can it rebuild a RAID 5 with a failed disk?
Yes, with one disk missing (RAID 5 survives exactly one). Set Disks missing to 1; the data of the missing disk is calculated from the parity of the others. With two disks missing a RAID 5 cannot be rebuilt by any software.
Does it work with Synology or QNAP NAS disks?
Yes. Those boxes use Linux software RAID; the program reads its metadata on the disks and rebuilds the array with the exact layout. Connect the disks to a Windows PC (SATA or USB adapters).
Can it help after ransomware hit a RAID server or NAS?
Yes, as the first step. Ransomware encrypts files, not the array, so the array is rebuilt virtually from images of the member disks without writing to them, and the files, databases and virtual disks on it are then recovered like on any other server. Never re-create the array or re-initialise the disks after an attack: that can overwrite what recovery needs.
Can it recover files from a Synology or QNAP volume (ext4 or Btrfs)?
It rebuilds the array with the exact layout and saves it as one disk image, but this version does not read the files inside ext4 and Btrfs volumes. For those, our NAS recovery service recovers the files from the image. On NTFS, exFAT and FAT32 volumes the program recovers the files itself.
Will it write anything to my disks?
No. Member disks are only read. Recovered files and array images are saved to a different disk that you choose.
How do I activate after buying?
Your licence key (ASRD-…) arrives by e-mail and in your account. In the program open Licence, enter the key under Activate online and click Activate.

Our lab has already solved 656+ ransomware and data recovery cases. Send us the files instead of running the software yourself: we tell you exactly what we can recover after a free assessment, and if we cannot recover your data, you do not pay.
