Why encrypted does not always mean lost

To finish quickly, most modern ransomware encrypts only parts of large files — the start, or chunks at intervals. Databases, virtual disks and backup files therefore often keep most of their real content. Some of our measured cases:

Frequently asked questions

Our accounting software database was encrypted. Can you recover it?

Often, in whole or in part. Most accounting and ERP packages store their data in SQL Server or a similar database, and we recover the tables from the pages that were not encrypted.

Do you have a branch in Kuala Lumpur?

No. We work remotely from India. Files are uploaded securely, and drives are shipped only when the media itself needs lab work.

Can we keep using the server while you assess it?

Better not. Every write can destroy recoverable data. Take the server out of use, or work from a full copy, until the assessment is finished.
