Ransomware in Coimbatore: what gets hit
Coimbatore's textile mills, pump and motor manufacturers, foundries and engineering firms — many of them family-run and medium-sized — typically run Tally or SQL-based ERP on one or two servers, with a NAS or an external drive as backup. Ransomware that reaches the server usually reaches the backup too, so the encrypted files themselves are often the only source left.
How a case from Coimbatore works
1. Remote assessment
Send us the ransom note and a few encrypted files. We identify the ransomware and measure how the files were encrypted — often within hours.
2. Files or media to our lab
Copies of the encrypted databases, virtual disks or backups — or the drives themselves — come to our lab in Dharmapuri. Originals are only ever read.
3. Recovery and validation
We recover what the encryption left intact and check it before handing it back, reporting plainly what could not be recovered.
Getting to our lab from Coimbatore
From Coimbatore, media can be brought to our lab by road via Salem — about 230 km, four to five hours — or sent by courier, usually arriving the next day. Many cases need only copies of the encrypted files, which can be transferred without moving any hardware. Drop-offs are by appointment.
Why encrypted does not always mean lost
To finish quickly, most modern ransomware encrypts only parts of large files — the start, or chunks at intervals. Databases, virtual disks and backup files therefore often keep most of their real content. Some of our measured cases:
We have solved 656+ ransomware and data recovery cases. Results depend on how each file was encrypted, and we tell you exactly what is recoverable after a free assessment, before you pay anything.
Reporting rules in India
CERT-In's April 2022 directions require organisations to report cyber incidents, including ransomware, to CERT-In within six hours of noticing them. If personal data is affected, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 also requires the breach to be reported to the Data Protection Board and to the people affected. This is general information, not legal advice — check your obligations early, because the clock starts when the incident is noticed.

Frequently asked questions
Our server and the backup drive were both encrypted. What now?
Do not format or reinstall anything yet. Keep the ransom note and the encrypted files, and contact us. Large database and backup files are often only partly encrypted, and we measure how much of each file survived.
Can you recover Tally data after ransomware?
Often, depending on how the files were encrypted. We check the company data files and tell you what is recoverable before recovery starts.
How long does a recovery take?
The assessment is usually done within a day or two of receiving the files. The recovery time depends on the size and damage and is agreed with you before work starts.
